A synthesis of West African rhythms and Trance electronica, Genetic Engine combines elements of the rave scene, drum circles, trip hop and world dance culture. Live drumming on djembes, congas and other drums is combined with electronic beats to produce a hypnotic groove. Tripped out guitar, samples and electronics are then blended with the grooves to create a sound that is totally original. Vocals ranging from melodic to hip hop dialogue and spoken word complete the mix. Influences and likeness include Massive Attack, Beck, Medicine Drum, Tricky, Talvin Singh and Professor Trance.
